ELLENSBURG — The Wa-Hi girls’ cross country team finished first in a pack of 10 teams at the Ellensburg Invite Saturday. The Wa-Hi boys grabbed eighth out of 16 teams.
Courtney Cox finished second behind Cashmere’s Angela Knishka with a time of 14 minutes and 53 seconds to lead the Blue Devil girls.
Hannah Hampson claimed third (15:06) and Catherine Feistner ran to a finish of fourth (15:11).
Lea Davidson was close behind in eighth (15:19).
Emily Leinweber finished in 19th place (16:38).
Haley Peterson and Perla Villegas finished 41st (17:55) and 46th (18:27), respectively.
Sean Newcomb (11:50) won the boys’ side after finishing more than 20 seconds ahead of Justin Irvin from West Valley-Yakima.
Zach Telfer and Dan Butler finished back-to-back, in 38th (13:32) and 39th place (13:33).
Lucas Larreau and Jacob Leinweber took 53rd (13:52) and 59th (13:57), respectively.
Micah Wilwand finished with a time of 14:10, to take 67th.
The Blue Devils next compete in the Sun Dodger Invitational Saturday in Seattle.
