WWU volleyball team still winless after pair of losses


SPOKANE — Walla Walla University remained winless after dropping a pair of volleyball matches here Friday during the Whit Classic hosted by Whitworth University.

The Wolves, 0-7, dropped a 25-16, 25-5, 25-5 decision to Whittier and were bested by Luther, 25-7, 25-11, 25-21.

Emily Yip, Haley Stinson, Emily Allen, and Kara Moon had two kills apiece for WWU against Whittier. Yip registered four terminations in the Wolves’ loss to Luther.

Holly Hunt had nine digs for the Wolves and Courtney Zaro added six in the latter match. Zaro and teammate Kelsie Schafer posted five digs apiece against Whittier.

Game three of the WWU-Luther contest proved to be the Wolves’ most competitive set of the day. The game featured 13 ties and four lead changes.

The Wolves travel to Pendleton Monday for a 6 p.m. match with Blue Mountain.
