WALLA WALLA — A Washington State Penitentiary employee was injured while breaking up an altercation between three inmates.
Correctional officer Michael Thornhill, 28, was injured when he tried to stop an assault on an inmate by two other inmates around 4 p.m. Friday.
Thornhill was transported to an area hospital where he was treated for minor injuries and released.
Officials said the penitentiary unit was put on 24-hour movement restriction.
The names of the inmates were not available.
