COLLEGE PLACE – A second fire in College Place in less than a week wrecked a house and contents Sunday night.
College Place Fire and Fire District 4 crews responded to 518 W. Whitman Drive, the home of Laurie Nerdin, at 8:24 p.m. on Sunday.
College Place Fire Marshall John Boose said the fire appears to have started and was mostly contained in one bedroom of the house. Neither Nerdin nor her two children were injured in the fire.
“There is damage to several other rooms from heat and smoke,” Boose said, adding the house and contents were “a total loss.”
According to Boose, the value of the house was estimated at $65,000, and the value of the contents lost to the blaze is estimated at $45,000. Boose said the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
Fire District 4, which responded with mutual aid to the fire on Whitman Drive, is still investigating the fire that started at 257 Pearmain St. Wednesday night.
Jason Parker, Jessica Roller and the couple’s three children, along with Beverly Parker were dislodged from their home Wednesday night after the fire destroyed their home. Donations for the family can be made at any Baker Boyer Bank branch and Hapo Community Credit Union in College Place.
