Wolves men shut out by Willamette, 4-0


SALEM, Ore. — Walla Walla University saw its men’s soccer record slide to 1-7 here Sunday as Willamette University handled the Wolves 4-0.

All four Bearcat scores came in the first half.

Adan Vazquez used an assist from Trevor Jensen to put up the first tally 46 seconds into the match. Yazan Hishmeh scored the next two goals at 10:17 and 14:28, with Jensen picking up his second assist on Hishmeh’s first score and Vazquez assisting on the second.

Vazquez closed out the scoring at 33:10. Jensen picked up his third assist of the game.

Willamette outshot WWU 21-7. Wolves goalkeeper Jonathan McLane was credited with five saves.

The Wolves aren’t scheduled to play again until Sept. 21 when they entertain Wenatchee Valley Community College in a 3 p.m. match.

Three scheduled matches this week — Wednesday at Trinity Lutheran College in Everett, Wash., and Thursday and Friday at Columbia Bible College in Abbotsford, B.C. — have been canceled.
