College Place City Council members are William Jenkins, Alexander Scott, Marge Nyhagen, Bernie Yanke, Mayor Rick Newby, Larry Dickerson, Steve Dickerson and David Beamer. With Nyhagen and Scott absent Monday, the board voted as follows:
- Planning: Approved resolution to have the city support establishment the Walla Walla Joint Community Development Agency as interim lead agency for formation of a Metropolitan Planning Organization. The new organization, formation of which is mandated by federal law, will help coordinate and plan transportation projects in the urbanized area between the cities of Walla Walla, College Place and Milton-Freewater. Unanimous.
- Hearing: Scheduled a public hearing for 7 p.m. on Oct. 8 to take comments on a proposed vacation of the right of way on a portion of Southeast Birch Avenue between East Whitman Drive and Southeast Second Avenue. Vacation requested by College Place Public Schools as part of construction of the new Davis School. Hearing to take place during regular City Council on that date at City Hall, 625 S. College Ave. Unanimous.
- Myra Road: Approved agreement with city of Walla Walla to have that city act as lead agency for environmental documentation and determinations needed for the Myra Road lowering project. Unanimous.
