WALLA WALLA — Walla Walla police Officer Kathy Loney suffered a broken ankle early Monday while pursuing a man, wanted on felony warrants, on foot.
According to a press release issued by Officer Tim Bennett, department spokesman, Loney spotted a suspicious person at 1 a.m. on Monday and conducted a warrant check.
A short time later, dispatch informed Loney that Devon R.P. Millar, 20, the person in question, was wanted for felony probation violation, according to the press release.
“Millar fled while the officer was attempting to take him into custody,” Bennett stated in the press release.
According to the press release, Loney suffered the injury to her ankle when she followed Millar after he jumped into the Mill Creek Channel near Colville and Main streets.
“Millar has not been arrested at this time, and will be looking at additional charges when apprehended,” Bennett stated in the press release.
