Gar-Pal defeats Dayton in four


PALOUSE, Wash. — Dayton fell to Garfield-Palouse in four sets Tuesday, 25-23, 25-22, 23-25 and 25-19, in Southeast 1B-2B interleague volleyball.

“It was a fun match,” Dayton coach Shannon Turner said. “They were all close, competitive games. I thought we played pretty well all around as a team for our first match.

“Gar-Pal had two pretty strong hitters, so I was pleased with how we played.”

McKayla Bickelhaupt led the Bulldogs with 11 kills, two blocks and a 14-for-14 performance on the service stripe.

Jassica Tate rounded up 10 digs, while Courtney Mings scored seven kills and went 13-for-13 from the line.

Chelsey Wooldridge picked up 23 assists.

Lexy Ramirez had six kills, two blocks and was 11-for-11 in service.

Sarah Phillips had 10 assists and Maddison Mings picked up six kills and three blocks.

Dayton (0-1) hosts Pomeroy Thursday at 6 p.m.
