WALLA WALLA — The Audubon Society has an outing and a meeting slated for September.

The public meeting will be 7:30-9 p.m. Sept. 20 at Whitman College, Hall of Science, Room 151.

Veteran birder, nature photographer and former Walla Wallan George Jameson will talk about his winter travel and birdwatching adventure through Southern California and Arizona.

Jameson also plans to show a series of images and videos to accompany his description of the four-month journey by recreational vehicle through national and state parks and wildlfe areas of the Southwest.

The society’s Sept. 22 field trip starts by carpool at 8 a.m. from the Harper Joy Theatre parking Lot, Whitman College.

Birders will be on the lookout for hawks and raptors on Bald Mountain in the Blue Mountains, led by Mike Denny.

For this popular event, bring binoculars, a lunch, and a lawn chair if possible. The field trip is free.

Those planning to attend should contact m.denny@charter.net or 529-0080.
