The Garfield County Fair opens Friday, with most activities at the fairgrounds, east of Pomeroy.
The annual fair parade rolls into downtown Pomeroy, Friday evening at 6 p.m. Saturday evening’s feature events are the youth motorcycle and ATV races in the fairgrounds arena. The Garfield County Rodeo Association rodeo will wind up the fair activities Sunday afternoon in the arena.
Livestock judging and showing will take place all day Friday and Saturday, with the 4-H and FFA market sales beginning in the arena Saturday at 4 p.m. The 4-H and open horse shows will begin Sunday at 8:30 a.m.
The annual cowboy breakfast will be held Saturday morning at Spinners Hall, downtown. Local entertainment will be featured in the arena grandstand Saturday at noon. And on Sunday, the cowboy church service will be held in the grandstand at 11 a.m.
The beer garden will be open Friday and Saturday afternoon through midnight, with music offered in the evenings.
Home economics and arts and crafts displays will be on view in the exhibit buildings all weekend.
Vendors will offer a wide variety of food throughout the fair, and kids’ activities will be provided all weekend as well.
