HANOI, Vietnam — Vietnam’s prime minister has ordered a crackdown on blogs that have attacked his leadership, fueling speculation that political tensions are intensifying amid slowing growth and perceptions of widespread corruption.

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung ordered the ministries of public security and communications to investigate “anti-party, anti-state” websites that have “slandered” the country’s leaders, according to a posting on the government’s website late Wednesday. Ministries and provinces were instructed to order employees not to read or spread information posted on websites including the Quan Lam Bao and Dan Lam Bao blogs, according to the statement.

The websites have surged in popularity by highlighting allegations of corruption and rare criticism of public officials.
