Walla Walla house fire
WALLA WALLA — For the third time in the last 10 days a house fire has forced a family out of its home.
On Thursday at around 8:30 p.m., Gregory Heimann and his son were forced from their home at 513 S. Wilbur Ave. because of a basement fire.
When firefighters arrived, the house was filled with smoke.
No injuries were reported, but one cat died in the fire.
Fire Chief Bob Yancey estimated damage at around $45,000 and said the owner had insurance.
The cause is still being investigated.
The American Red Cross was called in to help the family find temporary housing.
A Sept. 6 house fire at 253 Pearmain Ave. and a Monday house fire at 518 W. Whitman Drive, both in College Place, forced two families from their homes.
