Newcomb, Cox lead Wa-Hi harriers at Sundodger


SEATTLE — Wa-Hi’s Sean Newcomb and Courtney Cox posted top-10 finishes here Saturday during the annual Sundodger Invitational cross country meet at Seattle’s Lincoln Park.

Newcomb was eighth among 125 male runners with a mark of 15:31.08 over the three-plus mile Lincoln Park course. Cox was ninth in a field of 104 girls with an 18:57.99 time.

Ben Wolpert placed 11th for the Wa-Hi boys in 15:39.16. Hannah Hampson was the Blue Devils’ No. 2 girl with a 19:52.79 mark.

The rest of Wa-Hi’s boys finishers were Zach Telford (72nd place, 17:25.03), Lucas Larreau (81st, 17:35.20), Dan Butler (86th, 17:38.73), Jacob Leinweber (92nd, 17:49.99), and Micah Wilwand (107th, 18:26.10).

Wa-Hi girls competing with Cox and Hampson were Catherine Feistner (37th, 20:25.11), Lea Davidson (42nd, 20:31), Ashley Cornia (57th, 21:08.76), and Emily Leinweber (21:28.92).
