Panthers down Bulldogs, 6-0

DAYTON — A second-quarter touchdown was all visiting Asotin needed here Friday night to post a 6-0 victory over the host Bulldogs in a battle of Southeast 2B combatants

The loss dropped the Bulldogs to 0-3 on the season.

Dayton managed just 108 yards of total offense in the game, but had its share of opportunities, according to coach Dean Bickelhaupt.

“We got in the red zone two or three times and we could not punch it in,” Bickelhaupt said.

The Bulldogs’ best chance came with two minutes left in the fourth quarter when it drove to the Panthers’ 3-yard line.

“But an offside penalty and sack took us out of commission,” Bickelhaupt said.

Dayton allowed just five passing yards to Asotin and 199 total.

“We played good defense,” Bickelhaupt said. “We had some mistakes, but we’re getting better. We’ve got young mistakes we’ve got to take care of.

“We’re pretty evenly matched,” Bickelhaupt said. “It was a back-and-forth game, a smash-mouth game.”

Dayton’s next outing is this Friday when it hosts undefeated DeSales.
