UNION, Ore. — Weston-McEwen stormed the Union gym Saturday beating host Union and visiting Stanfield in straight sets during a Blue Mountain Conference dual volleyball meet.
W-M defeated Stanfield 25-12, 25-14, and 25-20.
Union provided stiffer competition, but the TigerScots pulled out 27-25, 25-23 and 25-17 victories..
In a first game that saw 18 lead changes, W-M finally caught up to Union at 24 before posting a win. In game two, the TigerScots trailed 17-11 before eventually triumphing.
“We’ve been having to work hard against good teams,” W-M coach Shawn White said. “To get the wins on the road in Union is great, and to win straight games is outstanding.”
Taryn Coffman set up W-M for 62 assists and slammed seven blocks. Molly von Borstel spiked 34 kills, returned 38 digs and was 30-30 serving.
Lacey Kuehn and Keegan Sheperd contributed 16 and 10 kills, respectively.
Melanie Sederburg had seven kills and a team-leading nine blocks.
Melina Baker was 14-16 serving with two aces while Natalie Arnold 14-14 with one ace.
W-M hosts Dayton for a non-league match Tuesday at 6 p.m.
