WAITSBURG — Mac-Hi finished 2-2 Saturday during the Waitsburg-Prescott Invitational volleyball tournament that unfolded at both the Waitsburg and Prescott High School gymnasiums.
The Pioneers went 2-1 in pool play. They bowed to the Wa-Hi junior varsity, 25-22, 25-12 before defeating DeSales, 20-25, 25-20, 15-7, and host Waitsburg-Prescott, 25-23, 25-23.
In the semifinals, Mac-Hi lost to St. John-Endicott, 25-20, 25-20.
The Pioneers’ Meghan Reed served 12-for-14 with eight aces in the St. John’s match. Mackenzie Fite was 8-for-8.
Avery Wells had four kills for Mac-Hi. Reed and Cheyenne Kessler slammed two kills apiece.
Kessler contributed six digs and Destiny Kilburg had five for Mac-Hi.
The Pioneers are now 2-3 for the season.
“After the Wa-Hi match, we played well together,” Mac-Hi coach Kaila Rodighiero said. “We had steady intensity throughout the rest of the tournament. It was nice to see it come together.”
Mac-Hi’s next match is a Greater Oregon League counter at Ontario on Saturday.
