PASCO — A single goal on a corner kick from Makena Snider with 15 minutes left to play was all Pasco needed Saturday to hand Wa-Hi its second defeat of the season, 1-0, in Mid-Columbia girls soccer.
Snider deflected the ball off teammate Abby Buckenberger for the winning point.
Wa-Hi (2-2) had several chances to score, Blue Devil coach Jesse Cruz said, but wasn’t quite clicking on offense.
“We’ve been playing really well and the game was really close,” Cruz said. “And it was just a matter of someone was going to make a mistake. (The corner kick) was well set up on their part. We had a couple chances, but we just couldn’t convert.”
Goaltender Viri Ibarra had five saves for the Blue Devils, while Alyssa James subbed in and picked up another save.
“I think they’re bodies are beginning to get a little bit tired because we had three games this week along with practices this week,” Cruz said of the Blue Devils. “Bottom line is, they’re playing beautiful soccer and doing what they are supposed to do. Let’s just put this game behind us and move on and clean up the little things and come up with a better result next time.”
