SPOKANE — Waitsburg-Prescott fell to Saint George here Saturday, 4-1, on three goals by the host’s Erik Muehleins.

W-P’s Fernando Torres-Escalante scored at the 39 minute mark to make the tally pull within one, 2-1, going into the half.

“We played well, they just played better,” W-P coach Jay Potts said. “They were big, tall and had strong players.”

W-P’s freshman goalkeeper, Antonio Benito, had four saves in his first varsity start.

“Antonio did well and saved some shots,” Potts said. “It was a tough position to put a freshman in but we were making some changes on defense.”

W-P (1-1 overall, 1-0 league) plays again Thursday in Prescott against Riverside-Christian at 4 p.m.
