WALLA WALLA — Forwards Tash Anderson and Jordan Rodriguez tallied a pair of goals apiece Saturday afternoon to lead three-time defending NWAACC champion Walla Walla Community College to a 6-0 rout of Olympic in women’s collegiate soccer action at Warrior Field.
Anderson, a freshman, scored both of her goals within the first 15 minutes of the match while Rodriguez, a sophomore, picked up one in each half.
The Warriors, competing in their first home game of the season, improved to 2-0 in league play and 3-1 overall.
“It was good for our women because we had been working on finishing,” WWCC coach Chad Bodnar said. “We were pretty good in front of the goal.”
The Rangers, now 1-2 in league and 2-2-2 overall, entered Saturday having allowed just two goals in their first five matches.
Anderson got the Warriors on the board at the 8:37 mark of half one off of a Paige Pontarolo corner kick and used an assist by Amanda Jones to make it 2-0 with 14:13 elapsed.
Pontarolo set up Rodriguez for her first goal of the contest at 35:14 and Walla Walla went into intermission with a 3-0 lead.
Rodriguez made it 4-0 with 59 minutes gone, assisted by Peyton Moon.
Whitney Hillmick benefited from a Moon assist at the 82:12 mark to increase the Warriors’ advantage to 5-0, then dished a pass to Chloie Dale to bring about WWCC’s final goal at 86:35.
Walla Walla unleashed 35 shots in the match to just one for Olympic.
The Warriors’ next match is Wednesday at Treasure Valley.
