The Jonathan M. Wainwright Veterans Affairs Medical Center is hosting a POW-MIA Recognition Day on Friday, beginning with a flag-raising ceremony on the campus parade grounds at 11 a.m.

Keynote speaker will be Lt. Col. Andrew D. Kelly, the new Commander for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

All veterans and the public are invited to attend to honor prisoners of war and missing-in-action soldiers. A reception will follow the ceremony at 11:45 a.m. in the VA theater, bldg. 78. Guests are welcome to visit with veterans and POWs in attendance.

Observances of National POW/MIA Recognition Day are held across the country on military installations, ships at sea, state capitols, schools and veterans' facilities. It is traditionally observed on the third Friday in September each year.
