WAITSBURG — Numerous area prep volleyball teams converged for the Waitsburg-Prescott Tournament Saturday, with Touchet and DeSales prepped for their Tuesday match at the tourney.
“We had some great moments this weekend,” Irish coach Hailee Cole said, “and overall I am extremely proud of how we played together. It’s great to see things start to come together and I am excited to see continued growth and improvement.”
“The girls played pretty good up until our last game,” Indians coach April Miller said. “Then, I think we ran out of gas. Tournaments are so good for developing teams. I’m proud of these girls. They are working hard and are figuring things out.”
Leading the way for DeSales were Alyssa James with 30 kills, 20 digs and 10 aces, Claire Conley with 26 kills, 18 digs and 10 aces, and Hannah Leahy with 18 kills, 50 digs, and 12 aces.
Renee Roach had 32 assists, eight digs and 10 aces, Allyson Lyons dished out 46 assists, 36 digs and six aces, Teresa Acock picked up 54 digs and eight aces, Allison Wujek had 20 kills and 12 blocks, Ashton Montgomery six kills and six digs, and Elizabeth Ruthven four kills.
For Touchet, Cierra Jo McKeown led the way with 13 aces, 25 assists, 40 digs and 20 kills.
Kristen Warner had 25 kills and 31 digs, and Rachel Miller picked up 11 blocks in the tournament.
Touchet heads to DeSales for a 6 p.m. match Tuesday.
