WALLA WALLA — DeSales picked up its first volleyball win of the season, defeating Southeast 1B opponent Touchet Tuesday night in straight sets, 25-18, 26-24 and 25-17.

“The girls did a great, great job tonight,” DeSales coach Hailee Cole said. “Every game they continue to improve — we’re not the same team this week as we were last week. I’m very proud of the improvement they have shown as individuals and as a team.”

The Indians fall to 1-3 on the season with the loss.

“It was a rough night,” Touchet coach April Miller said. “We were off our game. The girls had good moments, but we didn’t show up together as a team and that’s what we have to do. We needed a bit of mental toughness tonight, too. We will get it.”

The Irish (1-6) spread the offense around, with Hannah Leahy picking up six kills, an ace and four blocks; Allison Wujek six kills, two aces and a block; Alyssa James four kills, six aces, five digs and a block; and Ashton Montogmery four kills and a pair of digs.
