WALLA WALLA — A Superior Court judge this morning increased bail for a man charged with being involved in a drive-by shooting last week outside a residence in the 1100 block of West Cherry Street.
Eric A. Nordman, 27, of 51455 Highway 332, Milton-Freewater, was taken into custody Wednesday and booked into the County Jail, with bail initially set at $100,000 on an arrest warrant signed by Judge John Lohrmann.
At Nordman’s first appearance in court today, Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Michelle Mulhern asked for a higher bail — $250,000 — because of the potential risk Nordman poses to the community.
Lohrmann granted the request.
Nordman was charged Wednesday with four counts of first-degree assault and one count of drive-by shooting.
Police believe he was in a Toyota Camry with another person as it drove by 1140 W. Cherry St. about 11:35 p.m. Sept. 13. At least nine shots were fired from the vehicle. A victim told police Nordman likely was the driver, with the passenger of the vehicle actually firing the shots.
Three people outside the residence were wounded.
No other arrests had been as of this morning.
Nordman also is awaiting trial on a charge of attempted burglary for a crime that allegedly occurred in early April.
He was arrested at the time, but Lohrmann ordered him released from jail May 30 and placed him on house arrest with few exceptions.
This morning, Lohrmann revoked Nordman’s release in that case.
