Trial date set for men in Columbia County drug grow case

DAYTON –Two men, who were arrested earlier this month at a marijuana grow in Columbia County, each pleaded not guilty to the charges against them Thursday in superior court here.

Ramon Estrada-Gonzalez, 61, and Gerardo Aguirre-Hernandez, 41 were arrested Sept. 4 and charged with one count each of manufacture of a controlled substance and alien in possession of a firearm. They were apprehended by members of a federal Cannabis Eradication Team who were responding to a tip about a possible marijuana grow near the end of Cougar Canyon Road in eastern Columbia County.

On Thursday, Superior court judge William Acey set a tentative trial date for both men of Nov. 8 in Columbia County.

Estrada-Gonzalez is being represented by public defender Dale Slack of Dayton and is being housed in the Garfield County Jail. Aguirre-Hernandez is represented by public defender Andrea Burkhart of Walla Walla and is in the Columbia County jail.

At that time of their arrest, bail for each man was set at $200,000.
