ONTARIO — Mac-Hi smoked out Ontario Saturday, taking three-of-five games from the Tigers in its first Greater Oregon League victory of the year.
The Pioneers (3-3, 1-1 GOL) fell behind with 20-25 and 24-26 losses to open the match, but rallied for 25-17, 25-8 and 15-11 to take the win.
“My team finally admitted to me that they understand why they do so much conditioning in practice,” Mac-Hi Kaila Rodrighiero said. “They need it to last through a long match like this one and win.”
Mac-Hi was sharp from the serving line, with Cheyenne Kessler leading the way with three aces on an 18-for-18 performance. McKenzie Fite was 21-for-21 with two aces and Megan Reed was 15-of-16 with two aces.
Avery Wells was the team leader in kills with 12, Fite had five and Reed eight.
“We were definitely happy to win on the road,” Rorighiero said. “Especially since they had such a loud crowd.”
