WALLA WALLA — The Kamiakin Braves shutout the Wa-Hi girls soccer team, 4-0, here Saturday in a Mid-Columbia Conference matchup.
“Kamiakin has great team speed and good ball control,” Wa-Hi coach Jesse Cruz said.
Ellie Heiden led the Braves with two goals with one of them unassisted. Heather Bonais added two assists and a goal. Parker Lee had a goal while Rachel Young added an assist.
The starting goalkeeper for Wa-Hi, Alyssa James, came out in the 15th minute because of an injury. James made two saves and allowed one goal before exiting.
“Hopefully, Alyssa will be better for next game,” Cruz said. “She wanted to come back and play in this game but we didn’t want to risk further injury.”
The Blue Devils back-up keeper, Lexie Swenson, had 10 saves and allowed three goals.
“Lexie did well but was a little nervous because she hadn’t played goalkeeper in awhile,” Cruz said.
Wa-Hi (2-4 MCC) plays again at Richland Tuesday at 7 p.m. .
