DAYTON — The home team Dayton Bulldogs were victorious over Waitsburg-Prescott’s volleyball team here Thursday evening.
Waitsburg-Prescott (0-3 Southeast 2B League, 4-6 overall) was outscored in all but one of the games. Dayton took the first, third and fourth sets by scores of 25-23, 25-11 and 25-13. W-P won the second set 25-12.
“We fell apart in that second game, but recovered really well in the third and fourth games,” Bulldogs coach Shannon Turner said. “It was a good league win.”
McKayla Bickelhaupt picked up 16 kills and 10 digs for Dayton.
Jessica Tate dished out 21 assists and had 11 digs; Courtney Mings seven kills, eight digs and was 23-for-23 serving; Lexie Ramirez six kills and four blocks; Sarah Phillips recorded 12 digs; and Madison Mings four kills, 10 blocks, 9-for-10 serving.
“Madison (Mings) is about 5 foot-9 inches, but plays bigger than she is because has such long arms and jumps well,” Turner said.
“If we play as a team, communicate and work together then we’ll be successful like game two,” W-P coach Angie Potts said. “When we don’t communicate, break apart and do things our own way, then we aren’t as successful and don’t play as well.”
Krystal Harris was the statistical leader for W-P with 11 kills, 11 digs and five service aces.
Samantha Federson was another team leader with nine kills, 11 digs and a block.
Jayden Brown had eight assists, Rhiannon Chapman contributed 8 digs and Stacia Deal saved eight digs.
W-P plays again Tuesday at Asotin at 7 p.m.
Dayton, 1-3 in league, heads to DeSales at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
