WALLA WALLA — Volunteers are being sought to join with U.S. Army Corps of Engineers park rangers Saturday to put some muscle into National Public Lands Day.
The event will be marked from 8 a.m. to noon at Bennington Lake by volunteers and rangers working to improve trails to reduce erosion. Both individuals and groups are welcome.
Volunteers should dress for the weather and working conditions. Long pants are recommended to provide the best protection against shrubbery and biting insects. People should also also bring gloves and wear sturdy work shoes.
Tools necessary for trail work will be provided by the Corps. Water will also be available, however volunteers are encouraged to bring their own water bottles to minimize the use of paper cups and reduce landfill waste.
People can register by calling 527-7165 or by visiting the Mill Creek Dam’s Facebook page at www.facebook.com/millcreekdam.
