KENNEWICK — Southridge matched up against the Wa-Hi Blue Devil swimming team Saturday for the Blue Sun Invite here, with the Suns downing Wa-Hi 109-67.
The Blue Devils had four first-place finishes.
The top finishers included two for Whitney Lux (500 freestyle in 6:43.28, and 500 freestyle in 6:43.28), Heather Ball (100 Butterfly, 1:18.95) and the 400 freestyle relay team (4:47.52).
Lux dropped 30 seconds off her best time in the 500 and Ball shaved off 10 seconds off a personal record.
Kaelie Coleman (second place, 7:05.92) and Brittney Beuck (8:08.07) of the 500 freestyle both had PR’s of 30 seconds or more.
The 100 fly was taken by Ball and Wa-Hi captured the top three spots in the race. Shelby Gordon grabbed second (1;22.92) and Coleman took third (1:30.26).
The 200 relay team of Ball, Alissah Rupert, Bailee Butler and Coleman had a second-place finish (2:09.59) and Sabrina Keenan also claimed a second with a lifetime best in the 100 breaststroke.
Amber Grimes-Knight had a 20-second drop (1:24.53) in the 100 freestyle and finished fourth.
“The girls had some great races and there were some incredible swims,” Wa-Hi coach Katharine Curles said.
The Blue Devils swim again Saturday in Pullman at 1 p.m.
