Guests at a special tasting event Wednesday at the Wild Walla Walla Wine Woman Shop are encouraged to don berets and embrace the spirit of France.
Six French wines will be featured during the two-hour tasting dubbed “Springtime in Paris.” The event starts at 5 p.m. at the downtown retail shop, 19 N. Second Ave. One of the wines will be from Chateau Miraval, owned by Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. Wild Wine Woman Catie McIntyre Walker said the wine is named “Pink Floyd” after the band recorded its “The Wall” album years ago at the Chateau.
Cookies in the shape of Eiffel Towers and wine glasses from Cookie Construction Co. will be for sale. On a side note, the new designer cookie company is owned by Michelle Bopp, whose husband, Andrae Bopp is owner of Andrae’s Kitchen.
The cost of participating in Wednesday’s tasting is $5 per person. Discounts will be offered on wines poured.
The tasting will be followed Saturday with a special pour from Billy Adams, one of the five partners in Proper Wines. Adams will be in town from Colorado for the one-hour pour that starts at the shop at noon. The partners purchased a small parcel of premium vineyard land that had been a cherry orchard in the Walla Walla American Viticultural Area. The cherries were replaced with syrah vines in spring 2007. The exclusive wines will be on shelves at McIntyre Walker’s shop. For more details, call 529-0503.
