Kamiakin wins boys soccer shootout with Blue Devils

KENNEWICK — Kamiakin held Wa-Hi scoreless in a shootout and came away with a 3-2 victory over the Blue Devils in a boys Mid-Columbia Conference soccer match here Tuesday at Lampson Stadium.

Wa-Hi slipped to 1-5. Wa-Hi returns here Saturday for a match against Kennewick.

Ty Wallin’s goal 12 minutes into the contest gave the Braves an early 1-0 lead, but Wa-Hi’s Jose Maya answered at the 34-minute mark. Josymar Rentaria put Kamiakin back on top at 71 minutes, but Maya’s second goal knotted the score five minutes later and sent the match into overtime.

Kolten Brockman, Caleb Vogel and Wallin each found the net during the shootout while the Blue Devils were blanked.

Wa-Hi goalkeeper Antonio Meza was credited with five saves during the game and Riley Schulman had 11 for Kamiakin, including three in the shootout.
