Long time Dayton resident Shirley J. Streby, passed
away at her home, March 28, 2013.
Shirley was born February 24, 1940, in Dayton,
Washington to Johnny and Melissa Maxwell. She attended
schools there and graduated from Dayton High School.
On July 3, 1965, she married Robert Streby in Dayton
at the United Brethren Church. They later divorced.
Shirley worked as a laborer for many years at the cannery
and also did housekeeping for many families in the area.
She enjoyed the outdoors, fishing and camping. She
loved to sew, made her own clothes and did alterations for
others. Shirley liked to watch the Seahawks and always
attended her son’s athletic events. She was a member of
the United Brethren Church in Dayton.
She is survived by two sons; Ramon Streby of Dayton,
Randy Streby (Aronda) of Walla Walla; one sister Betty
Ransom of Milton-Freewater; one brother, Kent Maxwell
of Fort Wayne, Indiana; five grandchildren, Chandra
Richardson, Tristin Streby, Coltin Streby, Mathew Streby,
Payton Streby; two nieces, Pam Maxwell, Kim Fish; four
nephews, David Maxwell, Shawn Maxwell, Steve Ransom
and Mike Ransom. She was preceded in death by her
parents; one sister, Marjorie Fay Maxwell; two brothers,
Jack and Keith Maxwell; one niece, Marge Dowd; two
great-nieces, Michelle Ransom and Melissa Dowd.
Visitation will be 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm, Thursday April
4, 2013, at Hubbard-Rogg Funeral Home, 111 South 2nd
Street, Dayton. The funeral service will be 11:00 am,
Friday, April 5, 2013, at United Brethren Church, 1106
South 4th street, in Dayton. Pastor Greg Brownell will
officiate. Burial will follow at the Dayton City Cemetery.
