Kennewick nips Blue Devils, 1-0

KENNEWICK — Walla Walla High School battled Kennewick to a 0-0 tie at intermission here Saturday in Mid-Columbia Conference soccer action before the Lions rallied for a goal on a breakaway in the 78th minute and pulled out a 1-0 win.

“The wind was blowing,” Blue Devil coach Mike Washington said. “We stayed with them in the first half and had some good opportunities.”

Wa-Hi goalie Antonio Meza posted five saves as Wa-Hi dropped to 1-7 in MCC play. The Blue Devils host Hanford at 4 p.m. Tuesday.
