Vehicle crashes into church; building, antiques damaged

MILTON-FREEWATER — An vehicle crashed through the local Wesley United Methodist Church on Saturday.

According to the Rev. Quinton Kimbrow, the accident occurred around 2-2:30 a.m. and left a large hole in the church’s Lamb Room.

A damage estimate was not available, but Kimbrow said that a number of antique furnishings were destroyed along with the structural damage.

Worship and services today will not be affected by the accident, but a class on cooking for the developmentally disabled had to be moved to another church.

“Thankfully, Christ the King Church has opened doors for us to do a cooking class for development disable adults,” Kimbrow said.

The accident was investigated by Milton-Freewater police, who were unavailable for comment on the cause, driver or other details.
