WALLA WALLA — A man died in a shooting this morning at in the 1200 block of Belle Street.
At 6:35 a.m., dispatchers called police to the area after a male caller informed them he had shot his friend with a shotgun, according to emergency scanner recordings.
The man remained on the phone talking to a dispatcher as police arrived.
After dropping the weapon, the dispatcher told the man to walk out with his hands in the air, at which point he was apprehended.
Officers then entered the residence and found the victim inside; the back door had been forced open, according to a press release.
The shooter was being questioned by detectives this morning.
The names of the victim and suspect have not been released, pending notification of the family.
