Xplosion ‘00 fastpitch team finishes 4-2 in Tri-Cities


TRI-CITIES — The Northwest Xplosion ‘00 12-and-under girls fastpitch team finished with a 4-2 record in the 14U division of the Umpire Blue Tournament in Tri-Cities over the weekend.

Xplosion ‘00 opened Saturday’s play with an 11-0 victory over the Hurricanes out of Ellensburg.

They then went on to beat the Tri-City Thunder, 9-1, and the Selah Shockers, 8-0.

In their final game on Saturday, versus the Washington Angels, Xplosion ‘00 jumped out to a 5-1 lead after an inning and a half only to fall to the Angels, 6-5.

On Sunday, Xplosion ‘00 began the day with a 9-3 win over the Washington Mustangs, and concluded the tournament with a 4-2 loss to the Northwest Wildfire after leaving the bases full in the final inning.

Xplosion outhit the Wildfire, 7-3, but couldn’t push across enough runs for the victory.

After concluding their first tournament of the season, the Xplosion ‘00 has an overall record of 8-2. They will be in action again this weekend at the NSA Ice Breaker in Tri-Cities.

Northwest Xplosion players include Lauren Hoe, Faith Hoe, Karmyn Coleman, Teisha Payne, Maddy Thomas, Alison Skurski, Madison Hooper, Mady Bell and Ashten Wright.
