TOUCHET — Touchet High School opened up a four-run lead in the home second of its Southeast 1B-2B game with Tri-Cities Prep Tuesday, but the Jaguars equalized in the very next frame and went on to pick up a 9-6 victory over the Indians.
“We didn’t have the best at bats and our pitching struggled a little bit, which makes a big difference in the game,” Touchet coach Tim McKeown said. “Our No. 1 and 2 pitchers are out, so we’re getting some younger kids some innings. We’re working on it though. We just need to throw strikes, when you can’t do that you end up giving up a lot of walks and it’s a long day.”
Elias Martinez, Coltor McKeown, Nate Ortiz, and Reuben Butler had hits in the loss.
Touchet scored its four runs in the second on four walks and two hits, a single from Butler and a two-RBI base hit from Ortiz.
Tyler Renslen walked to lead off the seventh with the Indians down four runs. He stole second and advanced to third on a passed ball before scoring on a Coltor McKeown fielder’s choice with two outs gone.
The Indians (3-2 overall, 2-2 SE1B) host Weston-McEwen Thursday and Liberty Christian Saturday.
