W-P trounces Riverside, 14-2

BOARDMAN, Ore. — The Waitsburg-Prescott softball team trounced the Riverside Pirates, 14-2 in six innings here Wednesday.

Pitcher Jennifer Nichols went the distance giving up two runs on six hits. She struck out five and walked two.

W-P got contributions up and down the batting lineup. Samantha Moss had three hits and two RBIs. Chelsy Brannock had two hits and two RBIs. Sam Federson had a single and two RBIs.

“We did a much better job of moving runners and we were aggressive on the base paths,” W-P coach Angie Potts said. “We made some mistakes but were working on base running in a non-league game.”

W-P put Riverside away in sixth with six hits and three walks to score the seven runs.

“We moved up on some pass balls and wild pitches and scored on some of them,” Potts said.

W-P (3-4 overall, 2-0 league) plays at Colfax Saturday at 10 a.m.
