Parking on a portion of First Avenue in downtown Walla Walla will be closed off starting this afternoon in preparation for this weekend’s foodie festival, Feast Walla Walla.
First Avenue between Main and Alder streets will be closed to vehicles starting today at 3 p.m.
The road closure will make room for a giant tent to span the roadway and serve as cover for a sit-down dinner that’s been added to the super-sized event. The $95-per-person, five-course dinner with wine pairings, which will double as a fundraiser for Walla Walla Community College and the Downtown Walla Walla Foundation, will serve as a proverbial appetizer to the main Feast event Saturday.
Fifteen eateries and 35 wineries/breweries/cideries will serve under the 240-by-40-foot tent. Attendees pay $50 to enter and receive a commemorative wine glass, a plate and 10 event tokens that can be traded for samples of wine and food. That event runs 1-4 p.m.
First Avenue is expected to be re-opened to traffic at 9 p.m. Saturday.
