Tax service extends hours to serve customers

Liberty Tax Service is extending its operating hours for those trying to get their taxes done under the gun.

Starting Friday, the local office, 705 W. Rose St., will operate 6 a.m.-midnight. Those hours will stand Monday as well. Over the weekend, the office will run 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m.-9 p.m. Sunday, said owner Sharon Dodgin.

“This tax season has seen a multitude of delays,” Dodgin said in a prepared statement. “Every minute counts when you’re trying to comply with the tax filing deadline.”

She said e-filing is likely the best option for most at this point.

In another effort during the wrap-up of tax season, Liberty Tax is also promoting several causes. As a sponsor of the Muscular Dystrophy Association the organization is offering to deduct $2.50 off tax prep fees up to $100 for every $1 donated to the organization.

The office also encourages donations of used cell phones to be recycled in exchange for calling cards for overseas soldiers.
