KENNEWICK — Wa-Hi’s boys had little trouble dispatching Southridge, 7-0, in Mid-Columbia Conference tennis play here Thursday.
“I was very proud of the way all of our players came to compete today,” Blue Devils coach Bryan Eggart said. “We showed a lot of mental toughness and never let our guard down.”
All four singles players — Ruslan Kuznetsov, Zach Anderson, Connor Christensen and Andrew Bateman — won their matches in straight sets.
In double play, Douglas Rowley and Parker Toon won in three sets, with Nicholas Fuller and Lane Dawes teaming at No. 2, and Micah Rambo and Gerrod Peck at No. 3, for two-set victories.
“All doubles players worked really well moving around the court as a team and were very aggressive at closing the net,” Eggart said. “Singles players, from top to bottom, did a great job closing out their matches in two sets, after winning quick first sets.
“Overall, this was our best team performance of the year.”
Wa-Hi, now 3-1 this season, heads to the Tri-City Invite today and Saturday.
