Willamette sweeps Whitman baseball team

SALEM — Willamette handed Whitman College a pair of Northwest Conference baseball losses Saturday, defeating the Missionaries 9-5 and 4-3.

The Missionaries led 1-0 through 3 1/2 innnings of game one. In the bottom of the fourth, Willamette piled on with a six-run rally, knocking out Whitman starter Dakota Matherly.

Casey Minnick contributed three hits in the loss for Whitman.

Whitman got a complete-game effort from Spencer Hobson in game two.

The Missionaries play again today at noon at Willamette in a single game.
