Xplosion undefeated at Tri-Cities Ice Breaker softball tourney


TRI-CITIES — Northwest Xplosion ’00 12-and-under girls fastpitch softball team finished as the only undefeated team in the A division at the National Softball Association Ice Breaker tournament over the weekend.

The Xplosion finished 6-0. It opened play Saturday with a 13-1 victory over Washington Force ’00.

An 18-0 win over the Washington Patriots was followed by an 11-2 victory over the Washington Angels.

On Sunday, Xplosion ’00 began the day with a 12-0 win over the Snohomish Shock before handing the Seattle Spice an 11-3 defeat.

In the final game of the tournament, after jumping out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning, the Xplosion held on to beat the Oregon City Nightmare, 5-4.

The NSA Ice Breaker featured 22 of the best teams from throughout the Northwest.

The Xplosion’s overall record is now 14-2 and they play again on April 28-29 in the Walla Walla Sportsplex Invite.

Northwest Xplosion players include Kamryn Coleman, Lauren Hoe, Faith Hoe, Teisha Payne, Maddy Thomas, Alison Skurski, Madison Hooper, Mady Bell and Ashten Wright. Coaches are Andy Coleman, Keala Hoe and Kate Hawk.
