Castillo de Feliciana to perform Spanish guitar

WALLA WALLA — Castillo de Feliciana will present David Maldonado’s “Noche de Pasion — 100 years of the Spanish Guitar” May 17-19 at Gesa Power House Theatre, 111 N. Sixth Ave. Tickets are on sale now.

The performance features guitar maestro Maldonado performing original Spanish compositions and re-worked pieces dating back to the early 1900s by composers Geronimo Jimenez, Sabicas and Agustin Barrios.

Maldonado’s Spanish guitar styles includes flamenco, classical and modern, along with challenging styles of rasqueado, a precise rapid strumming pattern using all the fingers of the right hand and picados, which features lightning-fast guitar scales.

He has released four albums of music in a variety of Spanish guitar traditions.

Among the cast joining Maldono are dancers Linda Cevallos and Cristina Hall. Cevallos has performed all over the world with artists such as Jennifer Lopez, Britney Spears and Reba McEntire and is currently on tour with Smokey Robinson. Hall is a renowned flamenco dancer who has studied with Eva Yerbabuena, Farruquito and Antonio Canales. She currently teaches and performs Flamenco in Sevilla, Spain.

Performances will be 8 p.m. on May 17 and 18, with a matinee at 3 p.m. May 19.

Tickets are $25-$50 for reserved seating. Limited VIP tickets are $75 which include a catered pre-show meet-and-greet along with priority seating. Tickets can be purchased online at phtww.com or by calling the box office at 509-529-6500.
