Free recycling collection day set in Walla Walla


WALLA WALLA — A free recycling collection of old tires, household batteries and printer cartridges for Walla Walla County residents will be held Saturday in the gravel lot on Tausick Way across from the Mill Creek Sports Complex.

The collection will run from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Sponsored by the Walla Walla Joint Community Development Agency with funding from the Department of Ecology, the event will also offer residents the opportunity to donate or recycle used building materials with the Builders ReSupply store, which will be on site for the day as well Cartridge World.

Participants will be asked to provide proof of residency by showing a valid driver’s license or utility bill statement with an address in Walla Walla County. Residents can dispose of up to 10 regular-sized car, light truck, or motorcycle tires per household at the event. No tractor, large truck, tires over 36 inches, or tires on wheels will be accepted. Tires will not be accepted from from businesses or other non-residential sources.

Gently used or new building materials such as sinks, toilets, cabinets, light fixtures, doors, trim molding, tile, and miscellaneous hardware will be accepted by the Builders ReSupply. Such items are eligible for tax donation receipts. Call 524-5218 if you have questions about items that can be accepted.
