PASCO — DeSales High School’s Jerod Konen took medallist Thursday at a District 9 West Schools invite at Pasco’s Sun Willows Golf Course, shooting a 75 on the par 72 course.
DeSales’ Ryan Baumgart finished a stroke back tied for second place.
Baumgart hit 14 greens in regulation for the round, but struggled in his short game, needing 38 putts on the day.
Konen hit 12 greens in regulation, but shaved off five strokes in the short game to pick up the win. He fired a bogey on the first hole and finished the front of the couse at 4-over 40, but made two birdies on the back nine for a 1-under 35.
Irish golfers Bryce Scott and Lucas Lyons each carded 80s to tie for fifth. Daniel Schaefer carded a 91, Scott Kimball a 93, and Andrew Hayunga a 109.
Waitsburg-Prescott’s Dakota Baker carded a 93.
Walla Walla Valley Academy’s Dylan Trapani led the way for the Knights, carding an 88 for seventh place. Cameron Fitzgerald finished in 90 strokes, Chad Stewart 99, and Paul Trapani 99.
The DeSales boys and girls reunite Tuesday for the DeSales Wine Valley Invite. All of the District 9 schools will attend in addition to Mac-Hi.
