Milton-Freewater to hold spring cleaning of downtown

MILTON-FREEWATER — The Milton-Freewater Downtown Alliance will lead a major sprucing up of downtown Saturday, starting with a volunteer breakfast from 8-9 a.m. at the Community Building, 109 N.E. Fifth St.

After breakfast an expected 50 volunteers will fan out around town and cover most of North Main Street, handling litter patrol painting and gardening tasks.

“We have not had an event like this in Milton-Freewater for quite some time and are hoping to build on our efforts in the future,” said Wes Haynes, an organizer of the event. “Our event happens to be the same time as the garden club’s sale in the community, so it will be an exciting day.”
