COLLEGE PLACE — Community members are invited to a public forum to meet the two finalists for the College Place High School principal position.
The meeting will be held Tuesday from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the Sager Middle School library, 1755 S. College Ave. A College Place School Board quorum may be present at the meeting.
The two candidates, both drawn from Walla Walla Public Schools, are Kirk Jameson and Dan Calzaretta.
Jameson was named the Walla Walla School District’s career and technical education director, director of assessment and technology, and Skills Center planning director in 2011. He previously served several years as an assistant principal at Walla Walla High School.
Dan Calzaretta is the Explorers Program instructor at Pioneer Middle School. Calzaretta ran the private Palouse Community School in Walla Walla for three years, and established the Pacific Crest Community School in Portland in 1993. Calzaretta earned his principal certification from Washington State University.
“Our finalists are each outstanding in their own right,” said College Place Public Schools Superintendent Tim Payne in a statement. “Each one has skills to be a successful creator and administrator of the new high school.”
College Place residents in 2012 approved establishing and building a high school, the first in the district. The high school project is on schedule to welcome it’s first freshman class for the start of the 2014-15 school year.
