Indian baseball falls 9-0, 2-1 to Liberty Christian

RICHLAND — The Touchet High School baseball team fell in a Southeast 2B doubleheader against Liberty-Christian, 9-0 and 2-1, here Saturday.

“We needed to split in this doubleheader to at least feel better about ourselves,” Touchet coach Tim McKeown said.

After an uneven pitching performance in game one, Touchet’s Damian Goucher pitched a complete game in the nightcap, giving up only four hits and two runs.

“(Damian) Goucher threw about 71 percent strikes,” McKeown said. “He did a good job of keeping movement on his ball, keeping them off balance and a mental mistake error cost us the game.

“The pitchers in game one, Corey Ochoa and Octavio Preciado, need to work more on throwing strikes and using their offspeed pitches.”

Touchet (9-7, 4-4 SE2B) hosts Waitsburg-Prescott Tuesday at 4 p.m.
