tle, Washington, to Horace Byron Franklin and

Theresa Otillia Fischer Lambert. She lived with

her parents in various logging camps until the age of 12, when

she went to live with her grandmother Johnson on an egg farm in

On May 27, 1939, she married Earl Dean Walker; they had three

girls and two boys. Bea and Earl enjoyed horseback riding in the

Blue Mountains, picking huckleberries, cutting firewood, and

they grew a large garden every year from which the produce was

canned or frozen and shared with others. Bea and Earl belonged

to the Dayton Yacht Club and spent many leisure hours boating

and fishing. In 1960, she and Earl opened Walker’s Auto Repair in

Dayton, where Bea kept the books and ran parts for the business

until their retirement.

Bea was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, and two
